In former days Hungary was a European country behind the Iron curtain. The Eastern Bloc. Different. But... how then different? The story of 'Lekehalom', a house in Hungary: 'If bricks could talk.'
This first painting contest organized by the Singer museum was a great succes and attracted hundreds of enthusiastic participants from all parts of the country. The assignment was to 'discover the painting animal in oneself' and to be inspired by de strong brushstrokes, the whirl of colors, the stylized reality and the directness of work made by Jan Sluijters.
The search into 'letting go' started in 2008 with the painting of an insecure clown and was completed in 2011 with an exuberant jump into space: 'To change the world one has to start with oneself.'
The location was again the orangery and shared with Henriette van Zeggeren (photography).

The jury commented on my work:
'Nicely painted head. The work shows guts, for example the blue hair.'
